A lot of Mac users, as well as PC users, have probably heard of the free Movist Pro software that allows free movie watching from the Mac. The free software has been available from the moment it was released. However, because it is freeware, there are certainly a few limitations of functionality that are more than evident with the software. So what are these limitations?
The most important limitations of the software include the inability to decode some common audio streams, and the lack of support for the HEVC, JPEG, and VPX formats. However, the software also does not have any option to playback H.V.A.S.P. videos. This is an issue for Mac users, as these are the most commonly used video formats by Mac users.
The other limitations include the inability to display any subtitles and the lack of the native functionality to switch between media player controls and movist Mac format video subtitles. The application can, however, be used as a simple media player with the ability to display standard tv captions, track titles and search boxes. The application is also capable of displaying thumbnails for videos and music and allows for password protection of photos. The only thing that the application lacks is the option of embedding streaming video into movies and playlists. So in the end, the application works as intended, but it does not live up to the expectations of its users.
